Auger boring provides the sewer connection for Newbury Shopping Centre

18 Jan 2010

As part of the development of the new Park Way Retail Development project, we were commissioned by Ashridge Construction to provide new sewer connections for the development. Ashridge Construction won a contract from main contractor Costain to provide the infrastructure and preparatory works for the scheme.

As the route for the new sewers ran very close to the rear of existing buildings, there were concerns about settlement. Choosing a trenchless solution negated that risk. The accuracy of line and level made guided auger boring the preferred installation method. 80 metres of 225mm ID and 80 metres of 450mm ID Naylor Denlok clayware were installed in four shots to form the new gravity sewer.
