FACT - EcoCIPP∗ outperforms Needle Felt CIPP liners every time
We have always been confident that EcoCIPP offered a much more reliable CIPP lining solution than conventional wet cured Needle Felt CIPP liners.
The publication of the 2006 German IKT Report confirms what we have believed since we decided to launch EcoCIPP in 2004. The report shows that in key areas, EcoCIPP achieved a 100% pass rate in each one, leaving Needle Felt liners lagging along way behind:
Modulus of Elasticity
EcoCIPP - 100% pass rate
Needle Felt Liners - only 84%
Flexural Strength
EcoCIPP - 100% pass rate
Needle Felt Liners - only 56%
Water Tightness
EcoCIPP - 100% pass rate
Needle Felt Liners - only 68.8%
In the tests, the IKT sampled two distinct types of liner (GRP UV liners and Needle Felt CIPP liners) from a number of different manufacturers.
Modulus of Elasticity
This tells us about the liner‘s ability to withstand loads i.e. traffic, ground and water. Tests were carried out in accordance with EN ISO 178 & EN ISO 13566. Perco's EcoCIPP system achieved 100% pass rate. Felt liners only achieved an 84% pass rate with 16% failing the test.
Flexural Strength
This is generally the failure strength of the liner. Perco's EcoCIPP system achieved 100% pass rate. Felt liners only achieved a 56% pass rate, with nearly half failing the test.
Water Tightness
A negative pressure is applied to the liner to see if the liner will allow water to pass through. Should water pass through then the liner is classified as porous. Perco's EcoCIPP system achieved 100% pass rate. Felt liners only achieved a 68.8% success rate with 31.2% failing.
Conclusions
When it comes to Water Tightness, Modulus of Elasticity and Flexural Strength GRP UV liners such as Perco's EcoCIPP system have on average nearly 30% better results than felt liners.
The IKT Report says:
‘Contractors still have adequate margin for improvement of their quality and work. This applies particularly to those companies using needle-felt liners.’ Several Contractors in the UK use needle felt liners. The IKT Report goes on to say: ‘This group of technologies [Felt liners] needs to improve its quality to catch up with GRP liners.’
∗EcoCIPP is Perco's trade name for Brandenburger's GRP CIPP liner which was tested by IKT in Germany for this report in 2006.
EcoCIPP™ Cured In Place Pipe Liner System
Cured in Place Pipe relining accounts for tens of thousands of kilometres of sewer rehabilitation worldwide. As a trenchless
technique it avoids traffic problems, excavation and resurfacing works.
Perco, the UK leader in trenchless technology, is the sole UK licensee for Brandenburger Liner Gmbh & Co's CIPP liner system. Marketed exclusively by Perco in the UK under name the EcoCIPP™, it has all the advantages of conventional hot water cure CIPP lining systems, but adds these additional major benefits:
Where Can You Use EcoCIPP™?
EcoCIPP™ can be used in all types of conventional and industrial sewers and because of its fast and pollution
free installation process, it should be considered as the first choice for:
A Turnkey Solution From Perco
Perco provides a full turnkey installation service for utilities companies, contractors and industrial clients alike. The package includes:
The Technology
The seamless glass fibre liners are available in a range of thicknesses depending on application. They are extremely strong
offering long time tensile bend stress of 95N/mm² and long time modulus of elasticity of approx 5625 N/mm².
At a given liner wall thickness, EcoCIPP has a 100% higher carrying capacity than regular needled felt laminated liners. The mechanical abrasive resistance has been proven in tipping trough tests with 300,000 stress reversals at the University of Darmstadt in Germany.
