SHAFT SINKING

Perco offers a comprehensive shaft sinking service, ranging from standard sheet piled shafts to underwater concrete construction. Our vast experience in this field enables us to provide a comprehensive and complete shaft sinking service, coupled with a high degree of customer interaction and competitive pricing arrangements.

We construct:

  • Timber frame shafts
Ideal for restricted areas such as gardens, basement or pedestrianised areas.
  • Bolted ring shafts
Can be installed by manual or machine excavation and can be used where access is restricted due to their segmental construction. Diameters range from 2 metres to 25 metres. Bolted ring shafts can be converted to manholes.
  • Caisson shafts
A one pass liner usually installed with machine excavation/hand trimming. Diameters range from 1.5 metres to 4 metres. Caissons can be converted to manholes
  • Sheet piled shafts
Usually for temporary access during construction. The shafts are mechanically excavated, with the sheet plies being driven in as excavation progresses. Sizes range from 1.5 metres sq. to approx 5 metres sq
  • Underwater Construction
For installing shafts using divers in areas of high water table. Caisson shafts are usually the preferred method
